The big, the small, the bicycles, the pedestrians, the modern, the less so, the art, the architecture, the Ramblas, the urban sprawl of Greater Barcelona, the buildings, the blue sky… Truly, we were very fortunate to enjoy a couple of sunny mid-20C days which were simply perfect for wandering around. In actual fact, we hopped on and off a couple of Barcelona Bus Turistic loops and managed to see a great deal more of the city than we did all those years ago when all we did was walk.
I think I might’ve enjoyed Barcelona more this time around, although I’m not quite sure why. A teeny part of me -the huffy princess part- may have been relieved to be walking on level surfaces once more, where there was much less stress on unstable ankles, not to mention the fact that everywhere seemed so calm, clean and orderly after the noise and cacophony of Marrakech. (I will get back to Marrakech eventually as I do have a few more pics to post, but I just felt like a bit of Barcelona for now.)
As you can see, my favourite compositional element is that of the old leading lines and I went fairly loco on that front in Barcelona. It was just too easy, and all too satisfying not to keep clicking the shutter. I hope you’ll allow me the self-indulgence.
